Itinerary

Day 01: CUSCO - CACHORA - PLAYA ROSALINA

Choquequirao Trek to Machu Picchu 8 days: We pick you up early from the hotel, to make our trip by bus to Cachora, approximately for 3 hours, arriving approximately at 8.00. am, in this place we will enjoy breakfast and a short rest, then we will continue for 30 minutes to the viewpoint of Capuliyoc, here we will organize our team to start the walk through a quiet place.

We will pass by the viewpoint of Capuliyoc (2915 meters / 9.564 feet above sea level), from here the walk will be down a beautiful path, here we will enjoy the beautiful views of the Apurimac canyon that extends below Padreyoc and Wayna Cachora, covered with snow. Then we descend to Cocamasana (2330 meters / 7,644 feet above sea level), where the climate becomes noticeably warmer and the flora and fauna begin to change. Finally, we arrive at a Chikisca place where we will have lunch and have a short rest, and then continue to Rosalina beach at 1550 meters / 5,085 feet above sea level, the site of our camp. Dinner and overnight.

Day 02: PLAYA ROSALINA - CHOQUEQUIRAO

The second day is the hardest of the trek of 5 days. Early after breakfast, we will climb a steep trail. Our 5-hour hike will take us next to Chunchullumayo Maranpata River, where we enjoy a deserved rest and lunch. Along the way, we will have the chance to see orchids, wildflowers, and many bird species. Maranpata (3035 meters / 9,957 feet above sea level) we will walk 2 hours, and we will reach the archaeological site of Choquequirao in time to enjoy the sunset and maybe even see a condor flying nearby. Our campsite will be just outside the ruins of Choquequirao.

DAY 03: Choquequirao – Maizal

This morning, after a typical breakfast, we start walking uphill, passing by the impressive mines called Victoria. Almost at the top, we can see the original Inca Trail in this region. After breakfast, we descend to the river Salkantay or Santa Teresa. After a good rest, we will go down to the Hydroelectric at the Urubamba River, from here, depending on time, we will walk and/or take the train to Aguas Calientes, overnight at the hotel.
