This 5-day adventure is ideal for experienced hikers seeking a physically demanding trek combined with rich history, spectacular landscapes, and an off-the-beaten-path alternative to the traditional routes to Machu Picchu. The highlight of the trip is the ancient Inca city of Choquequirao, perched high in the canyon at an altitude of approximately 3,050 meters (10,007 feet). Spread across a vast hillside, the site features agricultural terraces, ceremonial plazas, temples, water channels, and impressive stone architecture that showcase the engineering brilliance of the Inca civilization.
GROUP SIZE: Please note that this is a private group tour. Since few people undertake this type of trip, we will be entirely at your disposal. Itinerary
Day 01: CUSCO - CACHORA - PLAYA ROSALINA
Choquequirao trek 5 days. We will pick you up early from the hotel at 06.00.am, transfer by bus to cachora where we will arrive at approximately 9:30 am, where we will enjoy breakfast, then continue to capuliyoc here we will meet our muleteers and horses, to organize our teams, we will begin our trek to a quiet area to reach Capuliyoc (2915 meters / 9,564 feet asl), where we will enjoy the beautiful views of the Apurimac canyon that stretches below the snow-capped peaks of Padreyoc and Wayna Cachora. Then we descend towards Chikisca (2,330 meters / 7,644 feet s.n.m), where the climate becomes noticeably warmer and the flora and fauna begin to change. Finally, we arrive at Rosalina Beach (1550 meters / 5,085 feet above sea level), right next to the Apurimac River where we camp, during the night.

Day 02: PLAYA ROSALINA - CHOQUEQUIRAO
The second day will be the most difficult of the walk. After an early breakfast, we will ascend a steep path. Our 5-hour walk will take us to Maranpata and control the Chunchulmayo River, from where we can observe the Inca city of Choquequirao, where we will enjoy a rest and take pictures. On the way we will have the opportunity to see orchids, wild flowers, and several different birds. We will arrive in time to enjoy the sunset and maybe even see a condor flying nearby, our camp will be on the outskirts of the Choquequirao complex.

Late in the afternoon, we start walking back to Maranpata where we camp. Overnight.
