Overview
PARACAS:
is the capital of the district of the same name in the Ica region of Peru. A small city, dedicated to tourism, for its port. Paracas as a starting point for trips to the Ballestas Islands. And the National Reserve paracas covers an area of 335,000 hectares, of which 117,406, are from the mainland and 217,594 from marine waters.
PARACAS RESERVE:
From its fishing port, excursions begin to visit the Ballestas islands, Chincha islands. Within its limits is the Paracas National Reserve. It is one of the most attractive tourist areas on the entire Peruvian coast. This is due to its great diversity of fauna and flora, existing within the Paracas National Reserve, making it the only protected area in the entire country. Here you can see archaeological remains of the Paracas culture, also the place where San Martín landed with six ships (on September 7, 1820).
ETYMOLOGY:
Paracas is located in an area where strong air currents transport sand, hence the name of the city “Paracas”, Quechua: for (rain) and aco (sand), sand rain.
ICA CITY:
Located in the narrow valley that forms the Ica river, and the western slopes of the Andes. The first inhabitants settled in the Ica region about 9000 years ago. The “man from Paracas“, discovered in the Pampas of Santo Domingo, dates from the year 6870 BC. C. constituting the second oldest horticulturist in Peru.
TOURISM IN ICA:
Ica Regional Museum, here we can observe, from prehistoric artifacts to the Spanish colonial era. Pre-Columbian lumps and mummies are displayed, with elongated skulls, ritual deformation, perhaps a mark of the elite. Some skulls also show evidence of trepanation, a type of brain surgery. There are also furniture, paintings, and artifacts from the Spanish colonial time.
The Huacachina oasis, located 5 km from the city of Ica, is surrounded by large sand dunes, suitable for practicing sandboarding, as well as other adventure sports. You can also visit the vineyards, extensive plantations with various products, the town of witches, famous place in the city.

Itinerary
PARACAS NATIONAL RESERVE TOUR: BALLESTAS ISLANDS TOUR. 03 DAYS / 2 NIGHTS
01 DAY. – LIMA – RESERVE OF PARACAS.
04:00 a.m. Pick up from the hotel in Lima and transfer to the bus station. 04:30 a.m. Bus departure from Lima to Paracas, arrival in the city, breakfast and installation at the selected hotel. At the indicated time we will board our mobility that you will share with other clients to start the excursion to the impressive Coastal Desert of the Paracas National Reserve, we will visit the Interpretation Center of the reserve, which offers interesting paintings and photos showing all the life and fauna that it exists in it.
We will also do a tour of the Paracas Peninsula, observing the reddish, yellow, colorful desert, formations made by the winds and visiting, its beautiful beaches, such as Yumaque beach, Red beach and Lagunillas beach, on this beach you will have free time so that you can have lunch since there are beachfront restaurants or hike around the beach in search of photos, then we will return to Paracas at approximately 3:00 p.m. Lunch, free afternoon.

02 DAY. – ISLAS BALLESTAS – PARACAS.
Ballestas Islands Tour, pick up from the hotel and transfer to the dock, to board the boat, and start our trip, on our tour we will be able to appreciate, from very close, a fabulous marine fauna, such as large groups of wolves on the beaches and rocks. It is also possible to see groups of Humboldt penguins in small rocky caves, as well as a wide variety of shorebirds.
During our excursion through the Ballestas Islands, in the highlands you can also see hundreds of guano birds, such as cormorants, boobies, pelicans, seagulls, and tendrils. Additionally you will be able to appreciate rock formations and the beauty of the Pacific Ocean. Return to the port of Paracas, lunch and in the afternoon transfer to the city of Ica, arrival in the city, installation at the selected hotel.
03 DAY. – ICA CITY TOUR – HUACACHINA.
Breakfast at the hotel, at the indicated time of the start of the tour, through the city of Ica, we will board our mobility and head towards the Industrial Warehouse of piscos ¨LA CARAVEDO¨ (Producer of Pisco Portón), here we will have a guided tour of the facilities and We will learn the process of their varieties of piscos, then we will taste the best piscos and wines.
Subsequently, we will visit the Artisan Wine and Pisco Winery ¨El Catador¨, visit its facilities and taste the wines and pisco they produce.
Similarly, here you will also have free time for lunch, as there are restaurants that prepare typical Creole dishes.
LUNCH TIME:
After lunch, we will visit the colonial Center of Ica, the Luren cathedral, the Helena chocolate factory and the Huacachina Oasis, where they will have enough free time so that you can get to know this place better.
Huacachina is a lagoon with vegetation of reeds, palm trees, eucalyptus and the carob tree known as the huapango. In addition, it is also a resting place for migratory birds and, as if that were not enough, it is surrounded by impressive dunes. All this contributes to making the Huacachina Oasis a unique and impressive place.
16:00 hrs. We will board the ¨buggy¨ (sand carts). At the indicated time, we will board our sandpit car, known as ¨buggy¨, to climb the dunes that surround the Huacachina Oasis, thus covering much of the desert doing tricks in the sand mountains. We will also make stops to take photos and perform an extreme sport, known as Sandboarding (Optional). Certainly, our driver and guide will safely teach us how to do it. Finally, to close our excursion with a flourish, we will climb to the top of a dune and observe the beautiful landscape of the Huacachina Oasis, in the same way, you can appreciate the sunset. After that, we will return to Huacachina, and transfer to the bus terminal.
