GROUP SIZE: Please note that this is a private group trip. Due to weather conditions, however the recommended period for this trek is from March to December.

Itinerary

Day 01: CUSCO – CACHORA – SANTA ROSA.

Choquequirao Trek 4 days, we left the city of Cusco at 6:00 a.m. to the town of Cachora, where we will arrive approximately 09: 30.a.m. Here we will enjoy breakfast and then continue to the place of Capuliyoc, where we will meet our team, the muleteer and the horses. From this point we start the walk downhill for 2 hours until we reach chikiska instead of our lunch, from this point you can enjoy a beautiful view of the Apurímac Valley that extends below the snowy peaks of Padreyoc and Wayna Cachora. Here the climate is warmer, the flora and fauna begin to change. After lunch we continue with the trek for 2 more hours, arriving at Playa Rosalina at 1550 masl., from this point we will have an ascent for 1 hour until Santa Rosa place of our camp.

Day 02: SANTA ROSA – MARANPATA – CHOQUEQUIRAO

After breakfast, we will continue the ascent up the mountain by a zigzag path to Maranpata small town in the area, here we will have a short break, and observe the beautiful landscape of the area, continuing with the walk through a quiet area we will reach the control of Chunchullumayo from where we can observe the beautiful landscape of the archaeological park of Choquequirao. We continue with the walk through an area of cloud forest to reach the city and to be able to enjoy in all its magnitude, within the city we will enjoy a delicious lunch, we will also be able to enjoy the sunset and maybe the chance to see a condor flying. Our camp will be in the free area of the Choquequirao complex.

 Day 03: CHOQUEQUIRAO – CHIKISCA

This morning we will have a delicious breakfast, then we continue our return walk along the same way, we will make a steep descent to the Apurimac River (beach Rosalina) where we will have lunch and after a break, in the afternoon we will have a 1 hour walk approximately to arrive at the Chikisca camp. Where we will spend the night and we can take a refreshing shower.

  • Difficulty: moderate.

Day 04: CHIKISCA – CAPULIYOC – CUSCO.

The last day of our expedition. Let’s take a look at the canyon through which the Apurimac River flows and we resume the path through the canyon gorge where we have an impressive view of the canyon from the Huancalle viewpoint, considered one of the most spectacular in South America. Continuing with the ascending walk we will arrive to Capuliyoc to have a deserved rest and to be able to observe condors flying the area, here we will be waiting for our mobility to return to the city of Cusco.
