Overview

Pallay Poncho Trek, also known as the sharp mountain, Apu Tacllo or Condor Sayana, is located more than 194 kilometers, three hours away from the city of Cusco, on a high summit located at an altitude of 4,791 meters above sea level, in the Cusco region. This mountain is known for its colorful striped landscape, similar to the Rainbow Mountain. The colors of Pallay Punchu are created by natural minerals found in the earth, which cover the mountain with shades of red, orange, yellow and violet.

Another alternative tour in the city of Cusco, specifically located in the province of Canas, very close to the Laguna de Layo, this tour is a new option where you can enjoy a great variety of high Andean landscapes, beautiful lagoons, local communities with a lot of tradition and custom. Pallaya Poncho is undoubtedly the new attraction in the Cusco region. Enjoy the pallay poncho trek.

*Difficulty level depends very much on your fitness and acclimatization.

Itinerary

Día 1: Cusco – Layo – Pallay Poncho – Cusco

4:30 am – Salida desde Cusco

Pallay Poncho Trek. The tour begins with a pick-up at your hotel in Cusco, and a trip by vehicle begins to the district of Layo, in the province of Canas. The journey takes approximately 3 hours, during which you will enjoy spectacular landscapes. Arrival at the community of Layo, where you can have breakfast before starting the hike. Here you can take the opportunity to acclimatize a little before the adventure. Drinking a delicious coca tea, highly recommended for altitude sickness. The hike is approximately 1 to 2 hours (depending on the pace of the group). The trail is ascending, which requires a moderate effort, but the effort is worth it, to be able to enjoy the natural beauty of the place. During the hike you will see Andean landscapes, lagoons, and mountain formations.

Upon arriving at Pallay Poncho, you will witness the impressive multi-colored mountains. Here you will have time to enjoy the place, take photos, and relax while admiring the beauty of the Andes. After spending some time at the top, we will begin the descent back to the starting point in Layo. This stretch also takes about 1 hour. Once back in Layo, we will enjoy a delicious lunch before embarking on the return trip to the city of Cusco. The trip back to Cusco will last approximately 3 hours and we will be arriving at approximately 7.00 p.m.
