The Incas Sacred Valley

 

The Sacred Valley of the Incas is located between the towns of Pisac and Ollantaytambo. Some of the Incas have chosen it as a place of settlement due to its excellent climate, fertile land and the waters of the Vilcanota River (in Quechua, Sacred or marvelous Thing), which upstream in the town of Urubamba changes its name and Is called the Urubamba River.

Wonderful Andean landscapes and some of its inhabitants still preserve ancestral customs and rites. Likewise, it is the site where you can appreciate the high technological development that the Incas have achieved in the area of ​​agriculture through systems of andenerías.

 

It was one of the main production points of Cusco due to the richness of its land and the place where the best corn grain is produced in Peru. That is why the Sacred Valley of the Incas is one of the centers of worship of the Pachamama (mother earth). It can be accessed from the city of Cusco through the highway or the railroad.

BY PAVED ROAD, THERE ARE 2 ROUTES TO GET THERE.

CUSCO – PISAQ: route that passes through different cultural places and beautiful landscapes, also through multicolored towns, where you can observe the traditions and customs of the people of the Andes. From the town of pisaq the path continues on one side of the vilcanota river. It was a river that in Inca times was very sacred to the population.

CUSCO – CHINCHERO: route to the north of the city of Cusco, you can take panoramic photos of the entire valley of the city, on the way you can see typical towns, when you arrive at the city of Chinchero, which is at 3,800. masl, you can see the fertile fields of potato cultivation.

Urubamba considered the capital of the sacred valley, is a very beautiful city, for its climate and the kindness of its people. The path continues following the Vilcanota river passing through the town of Yanahura, Ollantaytambo and Machu Picchu.
