ITINERARY OF PLACES TO VISIT:

01.- THE SIXTINE CHAPEL OF ANDAHUAYLILLAS. (3,093.m)

Original name. Church of San Pedro Apóstol de Andahuaylillas, famously known as the Sistine Chapel of America, was built at the end of the 16th century, on one of its murals, it has the signature of Luis de Riaño, dated 1626. These mural paintings were commissioned by him , then parish priest, Juan Pérez Bocanegra, author of (Hanaq Pacha Kusikuynin = Joy of Heaven), the first polyphonic work, made throughout the American continent, written mostly in Quechua. It is a temple consecrated under the dedication of San Pedro, although the main altar is presided over by the Virgen del Rosario. The Jesuits were in charge of it in the period 1628-1636. It consists of a single nave with side chapels. Its wide walls are adobe and mud. The beauty in its murals, as well as the works in gold leaf and the canvases are authentic, done by a teacher from the Cusco school.

02.- THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL COMPLEX OF RAQCHI. (3,450.m)

Beautiful place, also known as the Temple of the god WIRACOCHA, considered the supreme deity of the Incas, a huge rectangular two-story structure measuring 92 meters long by 25.5 wide.2 The structure is made up of a central adobe wall between 18 and 20 meters high, with an andesite stone base. It has windows and doors, it is flanked on both sides by 11 circular columns with the lower part in stone and the upper part in clay.
Before its destruction by the Spanish, the temple had what is believed to be the largest ceiling in the Inca Empire, having its apex on the central wall that extends over the columns and about 25 meters (82 feet) beyond each side. . The large proportions of the temple, and its prominence on the site explain why the entire complex is also referred to as the wiracocha Temple.

Qolqas or warehouses. Towards the east of the Viracocha temple there are 156 circular deposits with 8 m in diameter and 4 m in height, located in parallel. These warehouses were used to store dry food, corn and quinoa, dehydrated potato or chuño, dried fish brought from the coast, dried meat of alpaca, brought from the Collao plateau, which were used to distribute to the different ones.

03.- LA PASCANA TOURIST RESTAURANT.

On this trip along the Route of the Sun, we have included Lunch at the tourist restaurant LA PASCANA, a local restaurant of good prestige and recognized for its good seasoning. It is strategically located on the outskirts of the city of Sicuani. The buffet consists of a wide range of national and regional dishes, we use local products.
Detail of our Buffet: starters, fresh vegetables, side dishes, the richest desserts, hot drinks (maté de coca, coffee or tea).
Very Important. Our lunch lasts 40 minutes / cold drinks such as water, soft drinks or beer have an extra cost.

04.- LA RAYA PASS. Highest Point of the Route (4,335.m)

The dividing line between the cities of Cusco and Puno, and the highest point of our journey (4335.m), here we can see the famous snow-capped CHIMBOYA from where the Vilcanota river originates. here we will have a time of 10 minutes to take pictures

Very Important. The visit time lasts between 7 to 10 minutes / we recommend using a warm jacket / coca tea for the soroche.

 

05.- THE PUKARA LITHIC MUSEUM. (3,900.m)

Pukara, is a culture that developed in approximately 1600 BC until 400 AD, located 106 km northeast of the city of Puno. Here you can see ceramics and sculptures with representation of figures, zoomorphic, including the famous sculpture of (HATUNÑAQAC / DEGOLLADOR).

06.- ARRIVAL TO CITY OF PUNO 05:00 pm.

Puno (Founded on November 4, 1668, with the name of the city of San Carlos) is a city in southeastern Peru, capital of the department of Puno and province of Puno. Its main Festival, Virgen de la Candelaria, which was declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by Unesco on November 27, 2014.
