Itinerary

Day 01: MOLLEPATA – SORAYPAMPA

We will pick you up early at your hotel, and we will travel in our transport for approximately 03 hours to the town of Mollepata located at (2,700. masl), here we will have an hour to have breakfast and use the bathrooms, we will also do the last purchases before the start of our great adventure.

We continue in our transport for another hour, through a beautiful landscape until we reach Challacancha. starting point of this trip, salkantay trek to machu picchu 5 days. Here the view of the landscapes and the mountains is very beautiful, we will start our walk, approximately for 03 hours along a quiet path, which will take us to Soraypampa, our first camp (3800 masl).

Here we will have our lunch with a panoramic view of the mountains (Humantay, 5720 masl and Salkantay, 6271 masl) In the afternoon, after a short rest, we will visit the Humantay lagoon very close to the camp. During the night the temperature is approximately -07 degrees. Dinner and accommodation.

Day 02: APU – SALKANTAY MOUNTAIN.

This day we will get up very early, because it will be the hardest part of this trip. The breakfast will be at: 05.30 am, then we will start our trek. In the direction of the Salkantay mountain, approximately for 03 hours, uphill to reach the Salkantay pass (4650 m / 15,200 feet) located halfway between 2 huge mountains; Salkantay to the right and Tucarhuay to the left.

From this place we will have impressive views. There is a chance of snow here, after a well-deserved rest, we will continue with our adventure, we will hike down a rocky path until we reach Huayracpampa, (4,000m.a.s.l.) where we will have lunch, after we continue the walk through a cloud forest with a diversity of flora and fauna of the area.

Here your guide will give you a brief explanation about the place, we will pass through the local towns where you can observe the daily life of the people, we will follow the trail to reach our second camp, Chaullay (3000m / 9800ft), enjoy the salkantay trek to machu picchu 05 days, dinner and overnight.

Day 03: CLOUD FOREST & JUNGLE TREK

After breakfast, 06.30 am, we will start the trip through the high jungle, crossing the Lluskamayo river and small streams, beautiful typical jungle landscapes, we will also be able to observe a variety of flora and fauna to reach the Beach, our stop for lunch.

In the afternoon we will have free time to observe coffee plantations and take a short tour of the place, we will also have the option to visit the thermal baths of cocalmayo, in the town of santa teresa (1500/4905ft) group decision, of course it is a good decision after salkantay trek to machu picchu 5 days – dinner and overnight.

Day 04: HIDROELECTRICA – AGUAS CALIENTES TOWN

We will have a super nutritious breakfast, then we will leave our camp and follow an ascending route through the mountain, with an original Inca trail, approximately for 03 hours, to reach Llactapata, this is a viewpoint with an excellent location, from where you can observe the Inca city of Machu Picchu.

Here we will descend the mountain for 02 hours to reach the Aobamba River and then continue to the hydroelectric plant, here will be our lunch, then there are 02 options to continue to the town of Aguas Calientes, walk for 02 more hours along an easy and beautiful trail or board the train for 45 minutes (optional).

In the town, accommodation is included with the basic services of a private shower and hot water, you will be able to return to reality, there will be time to connect to the internet and communicate with your relatives, spend the night and have dinner in a local restaurant.

Day 05: MACHU PICCHU CITY – CUSCO

The Breakfast will be early at the hotel, then we will have 2 options to get to the city (walking or by bus) you will arrive at the control of Machu Picchu located at the main entrance, here you need the original passport to enter the city and then you can enjoy this enigmatic city, you will also have time and appreciate the sunrise.

Here your guide will offer you a tour of the Inca city (approximately 03 hours) to get to know the main places, you can also climb the Huayna Picchu mountain (depending on availability – optional) (2720 m / 8890 ft) It takes 45 minutes to get to the top.

Then you have to return to the town of Aguas Calientes, where you can have lunch, and then board the train back to the city of Cusco. According to scheduled time.

**Train included in Salkantay Trek, is the Expedition service (to Ollanta) Train times will only be confirmed once full amount of tour is paid. The earliest train you could take is the 14:55.pm and being the 18.20,pm the last train. Pacha Expeditions, will organize the transport back to Cusco (by taxi or by bus).

Please Note: train times are subject to change depending on Peru rail timestable and availability.If organized in advance, the train can be upgraded to Visatadome (larger windows than the Expedition train) for an increased price.
