Itinerary

Day 01: MOLLEPATA – SORAYPAMPA

We will pick you up early from your hotel and travel in our tourist transport approximately 03 hours to Mollepata located (2,700.msnm), here we will have a break of one hour to have breakfast and use the bathrooms, we will make the last purchases before the start of our adventure in Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu 5 days, we will continue on our transport for an hour, through a beautiful landscape to reach Challacancha, the starting point of the hike, here the views of the landscape and the mountains is very beautiful, here we begin our hike, approximately 3 hours by a beautiful road that will take us to Soraypampa our first (camp of 3,800 .msnm) Here we will have our lunch with panoramic view of the mountains (Humantay, 5720.msnm and Salkantay, 6271.msnm) In the afternoon we will visit the lagoon of Humantay very close to the camp. During the night the temperature is approximately -07 degrees. Dinner and overnight

Day 02: APU – SALKANTAY MOUNTAIN

This day we get up very early, because it will be the hardest part of this trip. Our breakfast will be at: 5.30 a.m. and we will begin our walk at 06:00. A.M. Approximately 3 hours of walking uphill to reach the pass of Salkantay (4650 m / 15,200 feet) located halfway between 2 huge mountains; Salkantay to the right and to the left the Tucarhuay. From the pass we will have stunning views of the snowy mountains. There is a possibility that snow here.

After a break, we will continue with our adventure we will have a downhill walk through a rocozo road to reach Huayracpampa, (4.000m.s.n.m) where we will have lunch. After lunch, we continue the walk through a cloud forest with the diverse flora and fauna of the area, where the guide will give you a brief explanation, to reach our second camp, Chaullay (3000m / 9800ft), overnight. Day 03: CLOUD FOREST & JUNGLE TREK

After breakfast, at 6.30 am, we will begin the day’s hike through the high jungle, crossing the Lluskamayo River and a variety of small streams and beautiful landscapes typical of the jungle to reach La Playa, our stop for lunch this day we will pass through valleys and we will have wonderful views of waterfalls, tropical fruits and plants. We will camp in Santa Teresa (1500m / 4905ft) with a warm climate after a rest, we will visit the hot springs to enjoy their kindness.

Day 04: HIDROELECTRICA – AGUAS CALIENTES TOWN

We will have breakfast at 7:00 a.m. This day we will have optional sports activities, we will leave our camp and Santa Teresa. Crossing the bridge and river of Santa Teresa, we will follow the ascending route of the river urubamba by a dry and dusty road to arrive at the hydroelectric station. Here we will have our lunch and the decision to choose 2 options to continue walking or board the train to arrive at the water village Aguas Calientes where we will spend the night.

In Aguas Calientes we have included the hostel with the basic services of private shower and hot water and you can return to reality you will have time to connect to the internet to be able to communicate with your families, here we will have dinner at night in a local restaurant.

Day 05: MACHU PICCHU CITY – CUSCO

We will have breakfast at 4.30. am, we will have 2 options to reach the city of Machu Picchu (walking or bus) you will arrive at the Machu Picchu control located in the main entrance here you need the original passport to enter the city and enjoy this enigmatic construction, when you arrive early you have time to appreciate the sunrise and the sunrise of the city.

Here your guide will offer you a walking tour around the Inca city (approximately 2 hours) to be able to know the main places, after this visit you will have a free time to explore the mysterious city on your own. If you still have energy you can walk towards the door of the sun or the Inca bridge, beautiful places you can also climb the mountain of Huayna Picchu (2720 m / 8890 ft)! It takes 45 minutes to get to the top. But you need an extra ticket that you buy in advance, you can check the service with us.

You will meet your guide in Aguas Calientes (you can arrive by bus or on foot) to have lunch and to have your return train ticket to Cusco. The train usually leaves at 16.20 and we will arrive in Cusco at 20.20.

If you wish, an extra night in the town of Aguas Calientes can be arranged. (Let us know if you want to stay an additional night when you book your tour.

The earliest train you could take is the 14:55.pm and being the 18.20,pm the last train. Pacha Expeditions, will organize the transport back to Cusco (by taxi or by bus).

Please Note: train times are subject to change depending on Peru rail timestable and availability.If organized in advance, the train can be upgraded to Visatadome (larger windows than the Expedition train) for an increased price.
