Itinerary

DAY 01: MOLLEPATA – SORAYPAMPA

We pick you up from your hotel and will travel by bus about 03 hours to Mollepata (2.700.msnm) where we have a stop for breakfast and use the toilets and do the last shopping this place will continue to Challacancha where begin our walk, approximately 3 hours by a beautiful road that will take us to Soraypampa (3.800.msnm camp) where we have lunch with panoramic views of snow-capped mountains (Humantay; 4120 m and Salkantay 13500; 6271 20575.msnm) afternoon visit the lagoon Humantay very near the camp. Overnight.

DAY 02: MIGHTY SALKANTAY!

 

This day we wake up very early because it is the most difficult of this trip will be our breakfast at 5:30 a.m. and begin our trek at 06.00. a.m., approximately 3 hours walk uphill to get to the passage of salkantay (4650 m / 15,200 ft) located halfway between 2 huge mountains; Salkantay right and left Tucarhuay. From the pass, they are amazing views of the snowcapped mountains. There is the possibility here of snow.

After a break, we will continue our walk (downhill) through the mountains of rock to Huayracpampa, (4.000m.s.n.m) where we have lunch. After lunch we continue with the walk through cloud forest area with diverse flora and fauna of the area, where the guide will explain it to reach our second camp, Chaullay (3000m / 9800 ft), overnight

DAY 03: CLOUD FOREST

After breakfast, at 6.30am, we start trekking for the day through the upper jungle crossing the Lluskamayo River and a variety of little brooks to reach La Playa, our lunch stop. Today we will pass through valleys and have wonderful views of waterfalls, tropical fruits and plants. We will camp in Santa Teresa (1500m/4905ft) with a warm climate. After a rest, we will go to the hot springs and enjoy the well-deserved soothing water!

DAY 04: AGUAS CALIENTES

We will have breakfast at 07.00.am and leave our campsite and Santa Teresa. We will cross the Santa Teresa Bridge and follow the upward route of the river. We continue walking, passing a variety of crop plantations, coca, banana etc. until we reach the hydroelectric station. At about 4pm, we will go by train to Aguas Calientes where we will spend the night.

In Aguas Calientes, you can take advantage of the thermal springs in the town (entrance 10 soles) a real treat after finishing the trek!

DAY 05: MACHU PICCHU

We will have breakfast at 5.45am then catch the first bus to Machu Picchu (15-minute ride) in order to appreciate the magnificent city as the sun is rising.

Your Guide gives a walking tour (approximately 2 hours) and after this, you can explore the mysterious city by yourselves. If you still have energy, you can also climb Huayna Picchu (2720m/8890ft)! It takes 45 minutes to reach the top.

You will meet your guide in Aguas Calientes (it can be reached by bus or on foot) for lunch and to be given your train tickets back to Cusco. The train usually leaves at 15.55 and we will arrive back in Cusco at about 20.20.
If desired, an extra night in Aguas Calientes town can be arranged. (Please let us know whether you would like to stay an extra night when booking your tour.)

Please Note: train times are subject to change depending on Peru rail timestable and availability.If organized in advance, the train can be upgraded to Visatadome (larger windows than the Expedition train) for an increased price.
